M is for MINIATURE STEAM RAILWAY

Plans are in place to introduce a miniature
steam railway adjacent to the Museum grounds.

Following the outcome of a number of successful trials a
layout has been secured under the title ‘Lackham Museum
and Woodland Railway' under the control and development of
two enthusiasts Peter Sheppard and Mike Hanscomb. The aim
is to integrate areas of College academic coursework and the
wider interest of students through practical exercises in the
engineering, maintenance and tourism impact of the facility,
whilst also proving a popular attraction for schools.

Taking into account issues of being in sympathy with the
environment, professional survey work and a dedication to
health and safety, it is hoped that it will be a significant addition
to the Lackham site.
