F is for FUTURE

The Museum at Lackham came into
existence with the establishment of the College
(then known as Lackham School of Agriculture) in 1946.

Under the guidance and momentum initiated by a past Principal
Mr J. O. Thomas, the Museum's collections and buildings to
house and display them have been expanded.

In 2000 Lackham's Museum collections were supplemented by the
merging of the rural life collections brought together by the
Wiltshire Life Society and formerly displayed at the Great Barn, Avebury.

Today, this impressive collection of Wiltshire objects relating to
the agricultural practices and rural life of the county is being
presented to a wider audience through its programme of events,
educational activities and expanded opening hours. The intention
is to continue making the collections more accessible to the
public, college students and schools.

Lackham Museum of Agriculture and Rural Life Trust and
Wiltshire College are committed in securing the
Museum's future through further expansion
in terms of buildings and the long-term
preservation of Wiltshire's
heritage .
